Junior Center Coast competed at the IHSA State Basketball
Tournament March 7-8. Six teams participated and Coast played
each of them one time.
Coast ended the tournament with a 4-1 record as did the Greater
Chicago Hustle and the Peoria Wildcats. Coast defeated Chicago, but
lost to Peoria. Chicago defeated Peoria and the teams ended in a
three way tie. Points scored upon in those games determined the
winner and Coast ended up in second place behind Chicago.
Patrick Belmann, James Clark, Jesse Cox, Colin DeWitt and Cameron
Oestringer represented Center Coast. Coast has competed every
year since the IHSA introduced a wheelchair basketball championship
and won the tournament in 2005.
January 12-13 Center Coast played their final NWBA Conference
Tournament in Lawrence, KS

October 13-14 at Highland Middle
School against Mizzou and Arkansas.
What A Great Weekend! It was a pleasure to be together with and on
the court with Rene, Brent, Casey, Clayton, Greg, Irfet, Marcus and
Sean. We had a great time and really enjoyed seeing the team come
together. We were able to play with two top teams and in longer and
longer time periods rally with them with a sense of parity. It was
very cool.
Thanks to everyone for giving your very best and thanks too for
being a go along get along sort. It is always more fun – in the long
run – when we play hard but under control and end up being the best
sports possible. We truly believe we accomplished all of that this
past weekend.
In an effort to continue to see improvement in our team development
and ratchet up skill levels we need to hit the practice gym as hard
and as regular as we can. In that vain we have secured a regular
practice night and time at Kings Point in Belleville, Illinois every
Wednesday evening from
6.00 to 8ish PM. There will probably be Wednesdays that we cannot be
there due to Kings Point’s other schedule of events however unless
otherwise posted on our web or contacted by us know we will be
there.
We are also adding Monday night
practices at Florissant Valley Community College beginning November
19th from 7:00pm-9:00pm.
The Midwest Conference of the National Wheelchair Basketball
Association schedule is as follows:
St Louis Rams host:
November 3rd & 4th, 2007
Madonna Magic host: December 15th
& 16th, 2007
Wheelhawks host:
January 12th & 13th, 2008
The Confluence is very excited about basketball and wants to play as
much as we can. It takes commitment. Commitment to practice.
Commitment to get in the best possible shape and build the best
possible skills. Commitment to make trips. Commitment to build team.
Commitment to tomorrow. Bring yourself and your commitment and lets
build together.
